At Orchard Lodge we care about the
environment.
We're delighted to have been given
a prestigious Gold award by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. We're also members of CoaST - the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project - Cornwall Wildlife Trust, South West Coast Path Association, English Heritage and life members of the National Trust.
We began our move towards sustainable tourism the minute we took
over Orchard Lodge. It started with using food that’s locally
produced and sourced and has extended into farming with our own pig
for our very own pork and sausages; we installed the latest energy
efficient central heating, windows and insulation and our latest
project, solar water heating from roof-top panels is fully
operational; we also use a 100 per cent renewable source for
electricity.
We offer discounts to people who arrive at Orchard Lodge on foot, by bike or by public transport. But we also think it's important to help visitors who DO come by car to find interesting ways of getting around without it while they're here. So we've created a week-long plan to help car owners discover new options and alternatives to getting behind the wheel.

Shelley is an Ambassador for CoaST and helps other businesses in the area learn more about environmentally-friendly tourism. We were both involved in making a film about CoaST which features our pig!
