Join us on Boscastle's first Walking Festival. It's an exciting week of activities and events for the experienced walker and those who prefer a more leisurely pace. Walks will be led by local people who have knowledge and experience of this stunning location. There is plenty to do in the area for any non walkers in your party from gentle strolling around the harbour to browsing the high quality gift shops that may help with your Christmas present list!

Sunday Afternoon Tea
Welcome at the new Visitor Centre followed by the Village Trail Walk.
(You will receive a complimentary booklet of the Trail with lots of historical information and interesting facts.)
Valency Valley circular walk via Minster Church (Moderate. Approx 2 hours)
A lunch at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant
Entry to the Museum of Witchcraft
A demonstration of the Mochaware technique used at The Boscastle Pottery
Entry to a Quiz and Pasty Social in the historic Old Village Hall
A stunning walk with many features along the coast path to Tintagel. (Moderate to strenuous approx 3-4 hours). Once there you can meet up with any non walkers for lunch and shopping or spend the afternoon discovering the legend of King Arthur and his Castle or visiting the famous National Trust Old Post Office building. Take the bus back in your own time.
A local guide who has excellent wildlife knowledge takes you on a challenging walk between Crackington Haven and Boscastle. The coastline managed by the National Trust for wildlife, landscape and access. The area is part of an SSSI (Site of special scientific interest) and SAC (special area of conservation). (Strenuous. Approx 5 hours)
The Thomas Hardy Trail (Moderate to strenuous in places. Full day tour) Walk up the Valency Valley to St Juliot’s Church. Enjoy your packed lunch and a tour of the gardens at the Rectory where Hardy stayed. Cross fields to Beeny Cliff. Return along the Coast Path. The walk includes references to ‘A Pair of Blue Eyes’ and Hardy’s poetry of the area.

♦ View the rich landscape from the sea by taking a trip along the coast in a
Boscastle fishing boat, The Peganina. Your guide will point out various features and
wildlife along the way. £10pp
♦ Evening roast dinner at the historic Cobweb Inn on Sunday £7.50
♦ 2-Course evening meals. We have arranged ‘Walkers Special Deals’ at £8 per head. Available from The Bottreaux. The Wellington (nb Wednesday is folk singers night), The Manor House or The Cobweb Inn. Please book these directly with the hostelries on arrival.
♦ Farewell Meal with a speaker in the 2AA Rosette Graded ‘Waterloo Restaurant’ at The Wellington Hotel. The Waterloo was redesigned by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and featured on TV’s Changing Rooms ‘Christmas Special’. £20pp Please pay this with your booking fee.
♦ You will need packed lunches for some walks. These may be arranged with your accommodation host or with local shops which are well stocked with fresh and local produce.
The cost for Autumn 2007 is £45 Per walker plus the cost of your chosen
accommodation and any optional choices.
The Walking Week is only open to those using the listed BCTC Accommodation
Providers.
There is a local Craft Fair and Open Sculpture Garden in the village over the first
weekend.
You may be able to arrange additional accommodation if you wish to visit
these or explore the wider area which has much to offer.

Drinks or additional items purchased should be paid for directly to proprietors. Any packed lunches or Walkers Special Meal Deals should be arranged directly with hosts or local shops/restaurants and paid to them accordingly. BCTC has public liability insurance but you are responsible for any private insurance. Any transport costs incurred are payable by the walker.
